Teen Counselling
A place to discover
who they are.
What is Teen Counselling?
In this ever changing technological and fast paced world, many people, younger and younger are seeking counselling. I offer teen counselling for anyone 12 years and older. Teens can choose either in-person, or online via the secure Jane platform.Â
As a parent of a teen, you know that teens can often be challenging to communicate with, and it may seem that they will do the opposite of what you say because you said it! The same happens in the counselling space, teens often want to have a place to practice their personal power and independence. I offer a safe and neutral space for young minds to explore their thoughts, feelings and continuously changing world.Â
I have experienced that most teens simply need a space outside of their circle, that they know they can open up about friends, family , school stresses, and other issues in a place that will keep their information confidential. With that said, if there are any safety concerns regarding the well- being of your teen, I will notify you, and the teen will be well aware of this exception for their confidentiality.Â

Methods for Teen Counselling
I will use methods of counselling that I use for adults, but as a former teacher, and school counsellor, I am also aware that the main importance for your teen is that they want to be here, feel heard, and be valued as a person.Â
I will provide a space that will be safe for your teen to open up about friends, family, and other concerns on their mind. School stress or pressures around the future can be discussed, and can even be brainstormed into an exciting pathway, instead of a scary pressure.Â
I work from a strength-based perspective and want your teen to realize their gifts, talents, and potentials, even around what they may think is "negative", or "bad". As well, I will support them to see certain events, or situations from a different perspective.Â
Your teen and I can work on boundary setting, friend or sibling conflict, and how to create better relationships with firm and fair communication. As your teen is more confident in their communication skills, they will feel higher self-esteem. My intention in every session is to highlight their strengths.Â
We can also learn and practice tools and strategies to either calm or energize their mental, emotional and physical states.Â
